Spring Equinox: Are you ready to bloom?

Today, 20 March is the Spring Equinox. The day and the night are in equilibrium. Can you feel the shift? Lighter mornings, warmer air, birdsong, SUNSHINE!
To say I feel revived is an understatement. Everything feels like a new beginning for me. I've been saying "Happy New Year" to friends and acquaintances and enjoying their perplexed expressions.
But it makes so much more sense to me. We are cyclical beings, with Winter asking for more rest, and Spring inviting renewal.
What if January was never the real New Year? And the Spring Equinox is when we should be setting new goals and intentions. Thinking about what we'd like to shed and what to carry forward.
A moment of balance in nature, with day and night in perfect harmony. It's a quiet reminder that equilibrium is possible within us too.
Bursting with life: Dancing Sunbeams
I love to honour this transition by clearing clutter from our home. And Spring cleaning! I find it so grounding, and it seems to clean a part of my soul as well as our physical space.
Being outside is such a joy. I spent a whole day in our garden last weekend, clearing away dead bits off the shrubs and planting bulbs that will flower in the Summer.
Eating salad has suddenly become much more appealing! Everything feels lighter, so I want to nourish my body with lighter food as well.
What will you do to mark the Equinox? I'd love to know! Does it feel more like the real New Year for you as well?
Bath Art Fair 2026
Amy Jobes and Josie Grant at Bath Art Fair 2026
Talking of intentions, I had planned to send out a thank you message to those of you who visited and met me at Bath Art Fair at the beginning of the month.
A bit later than intended, I had a studio move, a broken car and a mountain of life admin to deal with...but now I send the warmest of welcomes to those of you who have recently joined my inner circle!
The art fair itself was both exhilarating and exhausting in equal measure. And without a doubt my highlights were the conversations I enjoyed with those of you who visited.
It was so gratifying to be able to share the deeper meanings that inspire my paintings. And even more wonderful to experience the reactions when others understood me.
I will share more about this on other occasions!
For now I have to finish organising my studio - I have returned to my log cabin garden studio as Art Mash has sadly closed.
And I have plans to move my website to a new provider, so I haven't been doing as many updates as usual.
As well as a couple of other Top Secret projects...
It will all get done in good time!
I'm excited to share that I have a stunning new collection of paintings consigned to Echo Beach Gallery in Ilfracombe, which will be opening at the beginning of April.
Here's a little teaser for you!

'Hope Renewed', available soon from Echo Beach Gallery
Mind Body Soul Braunton
For those of you who are local, I am excited to be part of the 'Mind Body Soul' event in Braunton Parish Hall on Saturday 28 March.
There will mostly be a range of local wellness businesses, but also the odd creative like me! Talk to me about my work and you will find the connection :)
Entry is free and you are warmly invited!
I will be there with a range of fine art cards, prints and some originals too.

Coastal Art Retreat 2026
I had a lot of interest at the art fair for my coastal art retreat with Lone Pine Retreats.
We have just a handful of spaces left! The dates are Wednesday 17 June - Saturday 20 June and this year I am only leading this one retreat.
If a creative and nourishing escape is something your soul is yearning for, please contact Claudine from Lone Pine Retreats for more information and bookings.
The Valley of the Rocks: the stunning setting for our sketch walks on our Coastal Art Retreats.
Thank you as always for being here! I look forward to seeing some of you at Mind Body & Soul on 28 March. If you have any questions or comments you'd like to share please email me at amy@amyjobes.com Or if you have received this by email simply hit reply.
Much love

P.s. Sharing is caring. Please help to support my creative practice by forwarding this onto a friend. Thank you xx
