Boutique Painting Retreats in Lynton and Lynmouth, Devon

Valley of Rocks, Lynton

Lone Pine Retreats, Lynmouth

Set in Exmoor National Park, North Devon, this expansive coast is majestic, famously quoted in 1799 by the poet Robert Southey as “England's Little Switzerland”.

The deep and wooded valley surrounding us is one of the largest remaining areas of semi-natural ancient woodland in the South West.

Join us for a serene art retreat with Amy Jobes, at the picturesque Seaview Villa in Lynmouth.

Immerse yourself in painting, sketching, coastal walks, wellness and creative guidance. A perfect getaway for both new and seasoned creatives seeking new inspiration.

Meet Your Tutor, Amy Jobes
North Devon Coastal Artist

Inspired by wild natural places with vast skies and distant horizons, Amy Jobes creates emotionally resonant coastal wall art that captures the spirit of land, sea, and sky.

Based in North Devon, Amy draws deeply on the dramatic beauty of the Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe coastlines, where expansive skies meet the rolling energy of the Atlantic Ocean - a place she returns to again and again with brush and palette knife.

“By immersing myself in nature and the elements, I fill up my heart. And then I pour it out again onto the canvas.”

Inspired by wild natural places with vast skies and distant horizons, Amy Jobes creates emotionally resonant coastal wall art that captures the spirit of land, sea, and sky. Based in North Devon, Amy draws deeply on the dramatic beauty of the Saunton and Croyde coastline, where expansive skies meet the rolling energy of the Atlantic Ocean - a place she returns to again and again with brush and palette knife.

“By immersing myself in nature and the elements, I fill up my heart,” Amy says. “And then I pour it out again onto the canvas.”

Each of Amy’s paintings reflects an instinctive and emotional response to these treasured coastal landscapes. Working primarily in oil, a medium she describes as “velvety, vibrant, and simply gorgeous”, Amy uses palette knives and layering techniques to build textured, impressionistic pieces that radiate energy and depth.

Cloudbust by Amy Jobes

While celebrating the emotive beauty of the British coastline is central to her practice, Amy also hopes to inspire a deeper love and respect for nature. “I feel incredibly lucky to live in North Devon,” she explains. “The conservation of our local beaches, moors, and woodlands is really important to me. I hope my art encourages others to cherish these places, or to rekindle their love for the wild.”

Amy’s artistic journey has grown from a loyal local following to include international collectors, including a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and a Booker Prize-winning author, testament to the universal resonance of her work.
