Exciting times for Devon Art Pop!
We will be exhibiting a collection of works at National Trust, Buckland Abbey, along with an original Rembrandt self-portrait and an early portrait of Sir Francis Drake.
It is such an honour to show our artwork in such a beautiful and historical place, alongside such important pieces of art.

Devon Art Pop presents: The Spirit of Buckland
The show is called 'Spirit of Place', and will run from 17 June to 17 July. Please visit if you can!
On some of the days there will be Devon Art Pop artists running workshops and doing painting demonstrations - for dates please see the Devon Art Pop Facebook page.
Thanks to Artfinder we have recently been in the news as well!
To be part of the show, we had to visit the abbey for inspiration before we worked on our submissions.
At Easter I went with my family to do some plein air painting and sketches. It was mostly a bright and crisp day (only got caught in one downpour!).
I took lots of photos and painted a couple of miniature landscapes while soaking up the atmosphere of the place.
I completed one painting for the show, as working with the baby bump was rather tiring! I named my piece 'Spirit of Buckland'.
'Spirit of Buckland'
24 x 20 inches
Oil, acrylic and pencil on framed deep edge canvas
'Spirit of Buckland' was inspired by a visit to Buckland Abbey on a crisp Spring day at Easter. As we walked through the Abbey and around the grounds, I felt a real sense of timelessness. The view of the Abbey nestled in the valley, among formal gardens which spread into grassland and woods; this was the scene which really caught my attention. The atmosphere was calm, ethereal even, and these are the feelings I wanted to capture in my painting. Created with acrylics and oil paints, I chose traditional colours to reflect the history, and dramatic lighting to give a sense of the stories Buckland Abbey holds.
As this is such a special show, I got my painting professionally framed by The Frame Shop in Braunton.
I'm sure you'll agree they did a fantastic job!
Enjoy the show if you are able to go.
