Welcome to Autumn! My favourite season. I love all the seasons but there's something about the warmth of the light and the freshness of the air that gets me every time. Oh, and the waves tend to be uh-mazing at this time of year. I was in the water for a sunset surf last night and it was simply gorgeous!
I always feel like this time of year is great for fresh starts too. It's great to come back to work after a break over the summer, feeling refreshed and ready to take on new challenges. Much better than the grizzly New Year in January!
As a person who would love to see mankind working in harmony with the natural environment instead of against it, and as someone who believes nature can hugely benefit our wellbeing, I've decided to incorporate these interests into my work.
My paintings have always been inspired by vast open, beautiful natural places.
That certainly isn't going to change.
What I'd like to do is share more of my thoughts and ideas with you. Things that I've been learning recently about self-care and mindfullness. And also positive news stories focusing on the natural world.
All too often environmental news (actually most news) is really depressing, and leaves us feeling a sense of dispair and helplessness. It does this to me anyway!
But what good does that do?!
Especially when there are LOADS of amazing people out there doing really amazing things. So I want to seek them out and shout about their great work!
And hopefully leave you feeling uplifted and inspired in the process.
We're much more likely to take positive action if we are feeling invigorated and positive.
Change your thoughts and you'll change your world....
My plan is to increase my email/blog post frequency to once a week. Every Friday, because it's nearly the weekend and who doesn't like Fridays, right?!
I'll still run my giveaway four times a year at the start of each season, and will also use the emails to let you know about events, new paintings and give you lots of nudges to take a break, get outside and enjoy yourself!
OK, so first up, new paintings!
The big statement piece at the top of this email is called 'Rolling in the Deep'. It's a mixed media, oil and collage piece of beautiful Croyde Bay here in North Devon.
It's currently for sale in Echo Beach Gallery in Ilfracombe. If you'd like to see more details follow the link here: Rolling in the Deep
And here are two smaller pieces, 'Calling from the Sky' and 'Waiting in the Sky'. They are both oil on canvas and 12 x 12 inches and currently available from Echo Beach Gallery.
'Calling from the Sky' is another view of Croyde. This is the beach when you arrive via the path running from the village and through Ruda Holiday Park.
'Waiting in the Sky' is inspired by Saunton Beach, when the cloud formations made the sky look huge! Can you spot Hartland Point?
Autumn Giveaway winner
Congratuations to Carole Atkinson who is this season's winner of an original miniature painting!
It's the same painting as on my last newsletter because the prize was never claimed...Fingers crossed it finds a new home this time!
One for local folks! And any of you who decide to make a trip to beautiful North Devon this weekend...
I'm taking part in a pop up shop this Sunday 4.30 - 7pm at Board Barn in Braunton.
Really looking forward to meeting other environmentally conscious, independent surf brands!
I'm going to have a cards, prints and a small selection of originals on display, and I'm definitely buying raffle tickets. The prizes are amazing! Look forward to seeing you there xx

Thus, it is highly positive that the Norwegian state is now following suit and making the same demands when it comes to public procurements.”
How trees secretly talk to each other
Trees on Planet Earth, yes OUR planet, are communicating to each other and interacting on a much deeper level than was first thought. Like in the film Avatar! Amazing right?! Something to ponder over next time you out walking in the woods...
